Bet Stanley Cup

Many people are unaware that they can place bets on the NHL online, which includes what sportsbooks call a ‘future bet’ on which team will win the NHL Stanley Cup. The NHL betting sites have odds listed for every single team in the NHL for winning the Stanley Cup for the 2010/2011 season. You can sign up for an account, deposit your money, and place wagers on who you think will win the Cup. Of course, the favorites to win the Stanley Cup will pay out less money than the long shots.

The odds listed on each sportsbook for their future bets on the Stanley Cup may come in different formats, but they all mean the same thing. For an example, for the Red Wings to win the Cup the odds may be listed as 5 to 1, 5/1, 5.00, or +500. All of these formats mean the same thing – If you were to place $10 on the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup your potential payout is $60 or $50 in profit ($10 x 5). Below you will find our predictions on who will win the Stanley Cup, along with the updated NHL Stanley Cup 2010/2011 odds.

2011-2012 NHL Stanley Cup Predictions:

Article and Odds Updated October 11th, 2011 – Written by: Brad V.

After hitting on both Stanley Cup finalists in Boston and Vancouver last season, I am looking for continued success this season in predicting the Stanley Cup Champion futures bet.  Just like last season, here is a look at the 3 teams I feel have the best shot at providing value as futures bets for the Cup:

Pittsburgh Penguins (+800)

The Penguins have the 2nd lowest odds on the board and are a very strong team with or without star Sidney Crosby.  Sid the Kid has been out since the Winter Classic on New Year’s last season but appears poised to make a comeback at some point this season.  I will admit that this is somewhat of a gamble on his health and without him; the odds are not providing a great value.  However, a healthy Crosby immediately vaults the Penguins to the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference.  The team has a coach in Dan Bylsma and a core of players who have been there before.  Evgeni Malkin has returned this season after getting knocked out for much of last year as well and has looked dynamic so far.  Goaltender Marc Andre Fleury is back between the pipes for the team.  The team also has Chris Kunitz, Jordan Staal and a full season from James Neal to bank on.  Consistency and familiarity are the key for the Pens and the familiar face of Sidney Crosby would go a long way to making this bet look great

Los Angeles Kings (+1400)

After stockpiling assets for years and staying well below the salary cap ceiling, the Kings announced to the hockey world that the time is now.  They brought in veteran Simon Gagne in the offseason to go with a talented contingent of forwards.  Then, they made their boldest move and snatched Mike Richards from the Flyers in exchange for a package highlighted by top prospect Brayden Schenn.  Richards put up 66 points last season and plays a great all around game.  Add this to the existing firepower of Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Jarrett Stoll and this is a dynamic crew of forwards.  The defense is not too shabby after finally locking up Drew Doughty for the next 8 seasons after a nasty training camp holdout.  In net, the team is blessed with 2 exciting young goaltenders.  The plan all along has been for Jonathan Bernier to be the main man for Los Angeles, but Jon Quick simply won’t give up the spot.  Quick was fantastic last season putting up 35 wins to go with a 2.24 GAA and .918 save percentage.  The Kings have all the pieces in place to make a run this season, and pay handsomely for those who put their faith in them.

Buffalo Sabres (+1400)

The Sabres are another example of a team knocking on the door, which doubles as a tremendous value at +1400 odds.  Buffalo has been on a steady rise in the East and under the new ownership of Terry Pegula, they opened up the vault for free agents in the offseason.  Let’s start with what is remaining on the core of this franchise.  All-world goaltender Ryan Miller is back and sports a career 2.56 GAA and .915 save percentage.  With Miller between the pipes, Buffalo always has a chance.  In the playoffs, you can ride a hot goalie to the Cup.  However, that is not all Buffalo has left from past runs.  They also bring back some serious punch up front in Derek Roy, Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville.  On defense, young monster Tyler Myers is back to deliver more bone crushing hits and powerful slappers.  The new additions to the team include Ville Leino, Robyn Regehr and Christian Ehrhoff.  In the wide open Eastern Conference, Buffalo has as good of a shot as anyone, but pays top dollar for your bet.
