The Leafs were outshot 50-22 but somehow came up with a 4-1 win with a big performance by their goaltender James Reimer. The Maple Leafs clinched a playoff berth for the first time in 9 times year with last night’s victory.
Sunday I’ve got two plays going…
2 UNIT = St Louis Blues @ Colorado Avalanche – UNDER 5 GOALS (-104)
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 1.92 units)
The Blues are battling for positioning in the West as they hope to move into 4th to get home ice advantage in the first round. These two teams have met once this season also in Colorado with the Avalanche winning 1-0 in a game that finished with the Avs having just 20 shots on net. The Blues have gone UNDER the total in 4 straight games and 8 of their last 9 games overall. During that span we saw totals of – 3, 3, 3, 2, 5, 2, 1, 1, 4. The Avalanche have also played UNDER in 8 of their last 11 overall. They’ve scored just 1.19 goals per game during that 11 game span. The UNDER is 3-0-1 in the Blues last 4 road games, 14-2-2 in their last 18 overall and 33-15-13 in their last 61 vs a team with a losing record.
2 UNIT = Calgary Flames @ Minnesota Wild – UNDER 5 GOALS (+123)
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 2.46 units)
These two teams met this past week with Minnesota winning 4-3, but in that game we saw both teams with under 30 shots on net. They’ve met 4 times in total this year and in the other three games we saw totals of 3, 4 and 3 making the UNDER 3-1 when they meet. Calgary has played to the UNDER in 3 of their last 4 games, while the Wild had three straight over games after totals of 5 or fewer in 5 straight. The UNDER is 5-1-1 in the Flames last 7 overall, 5-1 in their last 6 road games and 6-2 in their last 8 vs a team with a winning record. The UNDER is 31-13-13 in these two teams last 57 meetings overall. The Wild play their best hockey when the focus on good defense, and with a playoff spot in jeopardy I look for the Wild to bare down on defense and play a low scoring game. Take the UNDER getting a good price.
