We were a shootout loss in Edmonton away from an almost break even night, but I still wouldn’t have been satisfied with that.
Lets finish off the week with a BIG Sunday.
4 plays going and because it’s Sunday I won’t have full writes ups going, but I feel like adding a few points about each…
2 UNIT = Carolina Hurricanes @ New York Islanders – OVER 5.5 GOALS (-115)
(Note: I’m Risking 2.00 units to win 1.72 units)
The OVER is 5-2 in each of these teams last 7 games overall. The Hurricanes have played to totals of 7 in each of their last two games, while the Islanders have scored 4 or more goals in 4 of their last 6 games including last night’s 4-0 win over Buffalo. We nailed the OVER on February 11th with a 6-4 Carolina win between these two teams in New York and we will go with the OVER again.
2 UNIT = Tampa Bay Lightning @ Pittsburgh Penguins – LIGHTNING TO WIN (+168)
(Note: I’m Risking 2.00 units to win 3.36 units)
Tampa Bay is 9-7-1 on the season after a really hot start and then a rough patch that ended on February 16th with a win over Florida. The Lightning have won 3 of their last 4 games, including last night’s 5-2 win in Carolina, and they’ve scored 17 goals over their last 4 games (over 4 goals per game). The Penguins are just 4-4 at home, and although they’ve won 4 of 5 I don’t think they should be favored by this much. I don’t look into injuries too much (unless it’s a starting goalie), but Evgeni Malkin is an important piece offensively for Pittsburgh. With their confidence back I like Tampa Bay to make this a tight game.
2 UNIT = Columbus Blue Jackets @ Chicago Blackhawks – BLACKHAWKS -1.5 [Puck Line] (+109)
(Note: I’m Risking 2.00 units to win 2.18 units)
The Blue Jackets are 5-11-2 on the season and 2-7 on the road, while the Blackhawks are 14-0-3 on the year and 6-0-1 at home. Chicago has won 8 straight meetings between these two clubs and 6 of their last 7 meetings by 2+ goals. Columbus is averaging just over 20 shots per game over their last 5 games, and it will be tough to beat Chicago playing like that. I’ll take the Blackhawks by 2 or more.
2 UNIT = Colorado Avalanche @ Anaheim Ducks – DUCKS TO WIN IN REGULATION (-106)
(Note: I’m Risking 2.00 units to win 1.89 units)
The Avalanche are coming off of a 4-1 loss in Los Angeles yesterday to drop to 2-6 on the road. The Ducks are 12-2-1 on the season and 5-1 at home. They’ve met once this season in Colorado with the Ducks winning 3-0. Anaheim is coming off a 5 day break, but before that they had won 5 straight and scored 3+ goals in each victory. Viktor Fasth is the expected starter and he is 8-0 on the season with a 1.78 GAA. I like Anaheim to win and I will take them in regulation.
