It seems as if every time I step out with a big play or a handful of plays my picks struggle. It happened last night, as I go 1-3 with my picks. Our GOW underdog pick on the Lightning lost as the leagues #1 offensive could only get 1 goal by Ilya Bryzgalov. Tom Sestito scored both Flyers goals, which matched his career goal total in his previous 31 games. If the Flyers were going to win last night they needed someone like him to step up, and that’s what happened. Other then that we hit our pick on New Jersey as underdogs, lost with the Red Wings losing 4-1, and then had the Panthers/Jets score 4 goals in the first half of the game and then not scoring again until the overtime was winding down as our over failed to cash.
I’ll say it again, but it is a long season and soon things will go our way on these big plays. Just one play tonight…
2 UNIT = Anaheim Ducks @ Colorado Avalanche – DUCKS TO WIN (-105)
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 1.90 units)
The Anaheim Ducks won their third straight game on Monday night with a win at home vs the Sharks and are now 6-1-1 on the season. They are 2-0-1 on the road, with their lone road loss a shootout loss vs San Jose. Colorado is coming off a 3-2 loss at home vs Dallas, and are just 2-4 over their last 6 games. In those 4 losses the Avs scored just 3 goals. Colorado actually took 3 of their 4 meetings last season, but the Ducks have owned Colorado over the years. Anaheim is 20-8 in their last 28 meetings overall and 6-2 in their last 8 meetings in Colorado. Note that the Avs are just 1-4 in their last 5 vs a team with a winning % of .600 or higher. The Ducks haven’t announced which goalie they will start tonight, but I like this play with either guy in net. Hiller is fighting to keep his #1 spot, as Viktor Fasth has looked great going 3-0 with a 1.30 GAA and .946 SV%. Seymon Varlamov is starting for Colorado and he is 3-5 with a 2.50 GAA and .915 SV%. The Ducks are rolling right now and look good in both ends of the rink. I’m on Anaheim tonight at nearly a pick’em price.
