Our 4 unit game of the week (GOW) on the Jets wins in overtime, but our two picks on Chicago and Oilers as underdogs both lost. Saturday we’ve got a full board and I’ve locked in some early plays…

2 UNIT = Philadelphia Flyers @ Boston Bruins – BRUINS TO WIN IN REGULATION (-109) (1st 60 minutes) *** EARLY START ***
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 1.83 units)

The Flyers are 11-13-1 on the year, but just 4-9 away from home. Boston is 15-3-3 on the season and a solid 7-2-1 at home. The Flyers are coming off of two losses, including a tough 5-4 loss at home vs Pittsburgh on Thursday where they were leading 4-1 early. Boston broke up a mini two game losing skid with a 4-2 win over the Leafs on Thursday night, and they have won 7 of their last 9 games (all which came in regulation time). These two teams haven’t met this season, but the Bruins were 3-1 against Philly last season. Boston is also 9-1 in their last 10 meetings overall and 4-1 in their last 5 meetings in Boston. Philadelphia has allowed 4+ goals against in 5 of their last 8 games, while the Bruins have held opponents to 2 or fewer goals in 7 of their last 9. Note that dating back to last year the Flyers are just 4-12 in their last 16 road games and 4-11 in their last 15 vs a team with a winning record. I think the Bruins win today and I will take them in regulation for a better price.

2 UNIT = Washington Capitals @ New York Islanders – CAPITALS TO WIN (-104 ) *** EARLY START ***
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 1.92 units)

These two teams have similar records with the Capitals 10-11-1 on the year (3-6-1 on the road) and the Islanders 10-11-3 on the season (4-8-2 at home). The Capitals are looking to get back up near a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference as they’ve won 3 straight games and 5 of their last 6 overall. The Capitals won 7-1 against Florida on Thursday night, and they’ve scored 23 goals over their last 6 games (almost 4 goals per game). The Islanders are coming off a 2-1 OT loss vs the Rangers and have won twice in their last 6 games which all came at home. The Islanders are just 3-9 in their last 12 home games. These two teams split their meetings last season, but the Caps are 40-15-3 in their last 58 meetings dating way back. Washington will start a rookie goalie in Philpp Grubauer, but he is 8-4-1 with a 1.99 GAA and .930 SV% in the AHL this season. I will take the hot Caps this afternoon to win in New York.

2 UNIT = New Jersey Devils @ Carolina Hurricanes – HURRICANES TO WIN (-114)
(Note: I’m risking 2.00 units to win 1.75 units)

New Jersey enters this game in Carolina coming off a come from behind 3-2 shootout win over Buffalo, which snapped a 6 game losing streak. The Devils have won just twice in their last 10 games, and they are just 4-5-3 on the road. The Hurricanes are 13-9-1 on the season and 6-5 at home. Carolina lost their last game 4-2 which was at home vs Montreal, but the Hurricanes outshot Montreal 43-28. Carolina had won 4 straight previous to their last game and are 5-2 in their last 7 games. These two teams have met once this year on February 12th in New Jersey and the Hurricanes won that one 4-2. New Jersey is really struggling to score, with 3 or fewer (often 2 or fewer) goals in 10 straight games. The Hurricanes have 23 goals over their last 7 games (over 3 goals per game). Take Carolina at home.
