NHL 2nd Round Predictions

Last night we had to plays and came out with a very, very small profit.

We had the Predators as big +170 dogs and the UNDER at +105.  Nashville pretty much stunk, but somehow had a chance to tie it up late and almost did so.  The Preds lost 1-0, giving us a winner on the under for a small cash.

Today I have a series play in the Western Conference, but first wanted to get out something important to all the Canadian visitors….

Please stop right now and start betting online.  You are losing out on money everytime you bet with one of these government lotteries.

First off, they only allow you to “parlay” games (meaning you must combine multiple selection on each ticket).  If you are betting online you can, and I highly suggest, bet on single games.  This is also a lot better during the playoffs when there are less hockey games to choose from.

Secondly, Sports Select and Proline have AWFUL odds.  Compare the odds with any online sportsbook and you’ll see what I mean.  Every time you cash a ticket you would be getting as much as twice or more money if you were bettting it online.  Check out the picture below compare Proline and an online sports betting site.

And my last reason today why you really need to sign up for an online betting site instead of betting at the rip off government sports betting loteries is that they don’t allow you to bet on series’.  One of my favorite ways to make money betting on the NHL during the playoffs is choose who is going to win the series.  We cashed in on Tampa in the first round, and I have another play tonight.

Please Click Here to deposit at Bookmaker.com – One of the best online betting sites out there!

Bookmaker is highly recommended, and if you enter the Bonus Code “THEGEEK” you will get a 20% bonus on your first deposit.  So if you were to deposit $100 you’d get $20 added to your account for FREE.  Click here to sign up

I hope you take my advice and don’t lose out on easy money… on to tonight’s picks

NHL Round 2 Betting Picks:

San Jose Sharks  (+110) over Detroit Red Wings [Series Play] – risking 3 units to win 3.30

Detroit comes into the second round with a lot of rest after sweeping the Phoenix Coyotes in four straight, outscoring them 18-10.  Good news for Detroit as Henrik Zetterberg is returning back from injury.

The San Jose Sharks finished off the Los Angeles Kings in 6 games on Monday night with a 4-3 overtime win courtesy of the series winning tally by Joe Thornton in the first extra frame.  Strangely enough the Sharks two losses in the first round came at home, where they’ve been stellar for most of the season.

These two teams met four times during the regular season.  Detroit won the first meeting in San Jose, and then the Sharks went on to take the last three games (two in Detroit and one at home).  San Jose has won 8 of these two teams last 10 meetings, which includes beating them in 5 games in last years post season.

Also note that the Red Wings have only won once in their last 5 games in San Jose, making the home ice advantage even sweeter for the Sharks.

In net for the Red Wings is Jimmy Howard who had 41 wins on the season with a mediocre 2.77 GAA and .909 SV %.  The San Jose Sharks have a proven winner with Antti Niemi in net, who won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks last season.  Niemi had 38 wins on the season with slightly better numbers than Howard  (2.50 GAA and .915 SV%).  Slight edge with San Jose here.

This is going to be maybe the most entertaining match up of the second round of these 2011 playoffs, with two very solid offensive teams doing battle.  The San Jose Sharks have won 31 of their last 43 games overall, and were one of the best teams since the All Star Break.  With home ice advantage and recent success over the Red Wings I love the Sharks as the underdogs in this series.

Sharks win in 7 games – my money is on San Jose to win the series at +110 and I’m risking 3 units to win 3.30 (same size as GOW plays).
