NHL Picks for April 17th

A nice winner yesterday with the Coyotes/Wings easily making it OVER the posted total.  The Red Wings took the game 4-3 to go up two games to none in their best of seven heading to Phoenix for two games.

That puts us with slight profits so far early in the playoffs, and I look to continue today with a winner.

Lets get right into today’s pick…

NHL Betting Picks for Sunday, April 17th:

Vancouver Canucks @ Chicago Blackhawks – CANUCKS TO WIN (+105)

The Canucks have pretty much owned this series so far in Game 1 and 2, despite a one goal 4-3 victory in Game 2.  We can expect Luongo to continue to play well, as he was 17-8-3 on the road this season with a .917 SV %.  The Canucks as a team were 27-10-4 on the road this year, and the Blackhawks were 24-17-0 on home ice.  Vancouver averaged over 3 goals per game on the road, while holding opponents to 2.22 goals per game, and their powerplay converted at an amazing 28.2% away from home.  The Blackhawks have failed to convert on a powerplay in 5 attempts so far, and that isn’t too surprising as they Canucks penalty kill is converting at 85.8% on the year.  In their two meetings in Chicago this season the Canucks won 3-0 and lost 2-1 in shootout back in October.  This Canucks team who had 56 wins on the season and added two more in their first two playoff games are built for the playoffs.  They have won 41 of their last 57 games, and 23 of their last 30 road games.  Vancouver is the more talented and deeper team this year, and I will take a hard look at them anytime they are underdogs against this Blackhawks team.  I’m on the Canucks to go up 3-0 and put a strangle hold on this best of seven.

Good Luck today!  If you want baseball plays check out my MLB picks blog.

  1. Kev,

With you all the way on the Canucks. As long as Luongo is playing well they are very tough to beat, and Chicago has not played well of late. Chelsea needs to find her dagger…Also gonna be on the UNDER for all the WAS/NYR series, and most likely all the Caps games the remainder of the playoffs… BOS/MTL looks like it is now a solid UNDER too, and if Price continues his pace MTL also looks like an UNDER play the rest of the playoffs… Great work on both blogs bud, look forward to your posts.

  2. What do you think about Anaheim tonight? I know they are without Bobby Ryan but Emery has been pretty solid and I have won so much money on them as road dogs this season?

  3. I think Anaheim wins 1 of these 2 road games so I like em tonight at +133 right now before game time – just laid a small bet on em.

If they lose but play well I’ll probably bet on them in Game 4.
