Detroit Red Wings @ Nashville Predators – PREDATORS TO WIN (-109) – The Red Wings have lost 5 of their last 6 games, including a 10-3 home loss to the St Louis Blues on Wednesday night. Good news for the Red Wings as starting goalie Jimmy Howard will be back in between the pipes for this afternoon’s match up. The Predators have been rolling lately winning 7 of their last 8 games, and continue with Rinne tonight who has a GAA of just 2.10 on the season. Nashville has taken 4 of the 5 meetings between these two teams, outscoring the Red Wings by 9 goals in their last 4 meetings. Detroit is just 2-7 in their last 9 games vs Central division opponents, and 0-4 in their last 4 vs a team with a winning record. The Predators are 8-0 in their last 8 games as a home favorite, and 4-1 in their last 5 vs a team with a winning record. The Predators are also 7-2 in their last 9 Saturday games for what it’s worth. It will be tough for this Red Wings team to get out of their slump vs the hot Preds with Rinne in net. Take Nasville on the money line.
Buffalo Sabres @ Washington Capitals – UNDER 5.5 GOALS (-133) – Ryan Miller will be out again for tonight’s game for the Sabres, and Enroth will get his second straight start. After posting a shutout vs the Rangers Enroth is now 6-2-1 on the season with a 2.45 GAA and .915 SV%. Michal Neuvirth will go for the Caps and is 25-11-4 on the year with a 2.47 GAA and .914 SV%. The UNDER is 2-1 in these two teams 3 meetings this season, and 8-3-1 in their last 12 meetings dating back. The UNDER has been a big trend this season for the Caps, going 45-11-1 in their last 57 games. The UNDER is also 6-1-1 in their last 8 home games vs a team with a winning road record, 23-4-1 in their last 28 games as a favorite of -151 to -200, and 21-5-1 in their last 27 home games. Note that the UNDER is 8-3 in the Sabres last 11 games as an underdog, and 4-1 in their last 5 road games vs a team with a winning home record. The UNDER is also 13-3-1 in their last 17 games as a road underdog of +110 to +150. Washington is playing for 1st place in the East, while the Sabres are still trying to lock up a playoff spot. I think this will be a tight lower scoring game and we have value on the UNDER.
