After taking a 2-0 lead the Canucks allowed 4 unanswered goals and Cam Ward made a few huge saves giving the Hurricanes the 4-3 victory.
Tonight there are 5 NHL games, and I have one play I like. Tonight I’m on the Blackhawks, but I’m not going to to lay the -195 on them money line. Instead we are betting the Blackhawks to win in regulation time.
Anaheim Ducks @ Chicago Blackhawks – BLACKHAWKS TO WIN IN REGULATION (-120)
**I know some people haven’t ever bet this (this is my first regulation play this season). Depending which sportsbook you use it will either be listed as “(1st 60 minutes)” or “NHL Regulation Time”. 5Dimes has it listed with the other selections (no reduced juice), Pinnacle you have to choose regulation time in the NHL menu, and SportsInteraction you have to click “more betting” on the game and you’ll see regulation time.**
The Blackhawks enter tonight’s game with a 19-8-4 record and are 9-2-3 at home. Chicago has won three straight games that all went to extra time, and have won 5 of their last 6 games overall (and 7 of their last 9). Anaheim is coming off a home win – just their 9th win of the season. The Ducks are 9-16-5 on the season and just 2-7-4 on the road. The Ducks are averaging just 1.69 goals per game on the road, while they are giving up 3 per game. The Blackhawks are averaging 3.2 goals per game, and 3.57 goals per game at home. These two teams have met twice this season with the Blackhawks winning both games (although one game was in a shootout). Ray Emery is starting another game for the Blackhawks, and he deserves it. Emery is 4-1 in his last 5 starts and has allowed just 9 goals against in those 5 starts. He is 7-1-2 on the season. Jonas Hiller is expected to start for Anaheim – he ist 8-12-5 on the year with a high 3.04 GAA. Note that the Ducks are 3-13 in their last 16 road games, 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win, and 6-20 in their last 26 games overall. The Blackhawks are 7-3 in their last 10 home games and 7-3 in their last 10 games following a win. Note that the Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last 5 vs team with a winning % below .400 and 10-2 in their last 12 home games vs a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Chicago has won 6 of their last 8 home meetings vs the Ducks. The Anaheim Ducks are really struggling this season, especially away from home. I expect one of the leagues best home teams to take advantage of the Ducks struggles. Take Chicago in regulation at a generous price.
