NHL Betting Picks for Saturday, February 19th:
Los Angeles Kings @ New York Islanders – KINGS TO WIN (-150) – The Kings come into New York for game 9 of their 10 game road swing. They are a very respectable 5-3 on their road swing, with wins in Philly, Washington and Calgary and have gotten points in all three losses. The Islanders have been paying good hockey lately, winning 4 of their last 5 where they have averaged 5 goals per game, but are just 10-14-4 on home ice this year. New York is 4-9 in their last 13 games vs Western Conference teams, 2-6 in their last 8 home games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 games as a home underdog. The Kings who experienced a mid season slump see themselves in the tight Western Conference playoff race and they have seemed to come to realize they need to start winning games. Los Angeles is 8-3 in their last 11 games, which includes 5-2 in their last 7 road games. Note that Los Angeles is 19-8 in their last 27 vs Eastern Conference opponents. Quick will be in net for the Kings, who is 26-14-2 on the year. The Islanders go with Al Montoya in net tonight who has appeared in two games for the Islanders in the last week entering the game in relief of their starter. The Kings are rolling and I think they continue their solid play and come out of New York with a win tonight. Take the Kings.
Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs – UNDER 5.5 GOALS (-115) – Both of these two teams have been in the middle of a lot of trades leading up to the trade deadline, with the biggest move being Toronto shipping Kaberle off to Boston yesterday. The Senators come into tonight with just 18 wins on the season, while the Leafs have actually gotten themselves back into the playoff hunt winning 6 of their last 9 games. Ottawa has averaged just 2.3 goals per game on the season, while the Leafs aren’t much better at 2.5. Reimer goes again in net for Toronto tonight and has been impressive with his 2.39 GAA and .928 SV%. Newly acquired Craig Anderson gets the nod for the Senators and will look to get off to a good start. The Senators have been playing the “over” lately, but that is not the case when these two teams meet. The UNDER is 8-2 in these two teams last 10 meetings and 4-1 in their last 5 meetings in Toronto. The UNDER is also 9-1-1 in the Maple Leafs last 11 games as a big home favorite of -151 to -200 and the UNDER is also 7-1-1 in their last 9 vs a team with a winning % less than .400. Give me the under in this one.
