NHL Picks for February 1st

And the NHL resumes… the NHL All Star break was entertaining, but I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things with some real NHL action.  January was a great month here at NHLPredicitons.org and I am continuing that right into February.

Tonight we have 13 games on the NHL board and a few good opportunities to get our money in.

If you are new to the site you will want to click here to sign up for the free membership that will give you access to our Game of the Week and Game of the Month picks that are 10-4 on the season (which has included some underdog picks).

Lets get right into tonight’s action..

NHL Betting Picks for Tuesday, February 1st:

Boston Bruins @ Carolina Hurricanes – BRUINS TO WIN (-101) – I like the Bruins chances on getting things done tonight as slight underdogs in the city where the All Star festivities were held this past weekend.  These two teams are no strangers to one another, meeting in back to back nights in mid January.  The Bruins took both meetings 7-0 at home and 3-2 in Carolina.  Boston has won 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two teams.  Boston went 7-3 in their last 10 games leading to the All Star break and Tim Thomas has won 6 of his last 7 starts.  The Bruins are 5-2 in their last 7 road games vs a team with a winning home record.  Also note that the Bruins seem to like extra rest, as they are 5-1 in their last 6 games when playing on 3 or more days rest.  Carolina has been playing well at home lately, but face a big test tonight in the Bruins.  It will be hard to tell what affects the All Star festivities have had on the Bruins players that attended and the Hurricanes players who were even more active as they hosted the festivities in Carolina.  Putting that aside I think we have a good spot to take the Bruins as underdogs in a match up they have dominated lately.

Los Angeles Kings @ Minnesota Wild – WILD TO WIN (-106) – The Kings look like they finally may have gotten out of their big slump where they lost 10 of 12 games.  LA went into the All Star break winning three straight.  Tonight the Kings will go with Jonathon Bernier in net, who has lost 3 of his last 4 starts and is 5-8 on the season.  The Wild won 4 of their last 5 games heading into the break and are maybe one of the most underrated teams in the NHL right now.  Backstrom gets the nod and is 15-11-3 on the year, with a very respectable .922 SV %.  These two teams have met twice this season with each team getting a win on the road (both in OT or shootout).  The Kings are doing well defensively averaging just 1.80 goals against per game over their past 5, but are only scoring 1.80 goals per game themselves.  Minnesota on the other hand are averaging an exceptional 1.40 goals against per game in their last 5 and 4.20 goals for over that span.  With Bernier in net for the Kings, I really like the Wild here at home with the price given.

Good Luck! And leave your comments on my picks and your own thoughts/picks for tonight’s NHL games below!
