Although I hit my big underdog pick on the Maple Leafs last night, I dropped the NYI/PHI UNDER (due to a goal in the final minute by New York to tie things up) and the Nashville underdog pick. Not what I like, and I am changing things tonight with a nice winning night.
Game of the Week play is coming tomorrow and you will need to click here to sign up free in order to get the play emailed out to you (I don’t post it on the website).
A nice 9 games on the NHL board tonight and I have found a couple spots I like – leave comments below with your picks tonight too!
NHL Betting Picks for Friday, February 25th:
Minnesota Wild @ Anaheim Ducks – OVER 5.5 GOALS (+107) – Struggles for both teams in this one. The Wild have dropped 4 of their last 6, while the Ducks have lost 4 straight games. These two teams met last Friday in Minnesota, with the Wild winning easily 5-1. Since Hiller being injured the Ducks have had their struggled defensively and in goal. Over their last 5 games the Ducks are giving up an average of 4.80 goals per game. The Wild will go with their backup Theodore in net tonight. We haven’t had confirmation if the newly acquired Dan Ellis will be in net for the Ducks, but we expect that he will. Ellis has a SV% of just .889 and a GAA of 2.83 on the year with Tampa Bay. 2 of these two teams last 3 meetings have been OVER and 4 of their last 5. The OVER is 7-2 in the Wild last 9 games as a road underdog. The OVER is also 5-2 in the Ducks last 7 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 vs a team with a winning record. Note that the OVER is also 4-1-1 in these two teams last 6 meetings in Anaheim. Take the plus money on the OVER.
Florida Panthers @ Atlanta Thrashers – THRASHERS TO WIN (-128) – Two teams that were right in the mix for the last few spots in the Eastern Conference playoffs now find themselves in 11th and 12th place, with the Thrashers 3 points up on Florida. Atlanta is just 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, while the Panthers are 3-6-1. This is a very important game for both teams if they look to have any chance to stay alive in the playoff race, and both teams go with their number 1 goalies (Vokoun vs Pavelec). Florida and Atlanta have met 4 times this season, with Atlanta taking 3 of the 4 (all on the road). Florida is averaging just 1.80 goals per game over their last 5, and are giving up an average of 4 goals per game in that span. Both teams are on their way down, but I think the Panthers have almost packed things in early while the Thrashers still have hopes to makes the postseason. Atlanta is 13-12-5 at home on the season, and I think they can continue their success against the Panthers with a big home win tonight. Take the Thrashers tonight.
