After a perfect 2 for 2 night, we fell last night going 0 for 2. Our big ugly underdog pick on the Senators looked good for most of the game, but the Wings prevailed winning 7-5. The Ducks out shot and outplayed the Sharks at home, but couldn’t complete the comeback with Neimi making some big saves in the third, as they fell 4-3.
No worries I am bouncing back tonight. There are just 6 games on the NHL board tonight, but I have two plays for you below… check out the picks and leave comments below with your own picks for tonight or thoughts on my predictions.
NHL Betting Picks for Thursday, February 3rd:
Minnesota Wild @ Colorado Avalanche – OVER 5.5 GOALS (-105) – These two teams are right in the thick of things in the Western Conference with 26 and 25 wins a piece. The Wild have won 5 of their last 6 games heading into tonight’s contest and are averaging 3.60 goals per game over that span. We are going to see backup Jose Theodore in net for the Wild, who hasn’t started a game since the 11th of January. The Avs are playing in their first game back from the All Star break and went into the break losing 3 of their last 4 games. Their struggles can be attributed to their defensive play, as they have allowed an average of 4.40 goals against per game over their last 5. Craig Anderson will get the nod tonight, and is just 6-9-1 at home with a shaky .887 SV%. The OVER is 4-1 in the Wild’s last 5 road games, and 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road underdog. The OVER is 5-0 in the AVs last 5 games overall, and 5-1 in their last 6 as a favorite. Also note the OVER is 21-8 in the Avalanche last 29 home games. These two teams play the under more often than not, but tonight I see some value in the OVER with the Wild being very active dogs here and both goalies on fairly long breaks from game action. Take the OVER.
Nashville Predators @ Philadelphia Flyers – UNDER 5.5 GOALS (-118) – This match up involves two very talented and young 22 year old goalies. Lindback will get the start for the Predators and is a very respectable 10-4-2 on the year with a .915 SV %. Bobrovsky goes for Philly and is an outstanding 21-7-3 in his rookie year with a .917 SV%. I look for these two young netminders to both come out hungry for a win tonight. The Predators haven’t had a total over 5.5 in their last 4 games, while the Flyers have gone UNDER in 3 of their last 4. Note that the UNDER is 4-0-2 in their last 6 vs Eastern Conference teams, 10-4-3 in their last 17 games as an underdog and 9-4-3 in their last 16 road games. The UNDER is also 6-0 in the Flyers last 6 home games vs a team with a winning road record, and 6-2 in their last 8 home games overall. Lay it down on the UNDER.
