A tough loss with my GOW pick last night as I was on the Lightning at home. I thought my money was in pretty good there, but the Caps came to play last night while the Lightning didn’t look as sharp as they have been. Anyways bouncing back with a winning night tonight with 11 games on the NHL board.
Without wasting much time lets get to today’s NHL picks…
NHL Betting Picks for Saturday, February 5th:
Anaheim Ducks @ Colorado Avalanche – DUCKS TO WIN (+130) – A battle of the “back ups” in Colorado this afternoon (3:00 PM EST start) with McElhinney and Budaj getting the starts. Anaheim comes into this game off off a 4-3 home loss to San Jose, but have won 7 of their last 10 games, and 10 of their last 14. The Avalanche are also coming off a 4-3 home loss to Minnesota, and they have dropped 4 of their last 5 games. The Avs are giving up an average of 4.60 goals against over their last 5 games, which makes it tough to win hockey games. Colorado has only won once in their last 5 home games, and are 3-8 in their last 11 games as a home favorite. Check this out – the Avs are 4-9 in their last 13 home games vs a team with a losing road record. Anaheim isn’t playing as well on the road as they are at home this season, but their 11-13-3 road record isn’t all that bad. The Ducks are 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog of +110 to +150. Note that Anaheim has dominated this series lately, winning 7 of the last 8 times these two teams have met. That also includes 4 straight wins in Colorado for the Ducks. Get your money in on Anaheim as nice sized underdogs this afternoon.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Buffalo Sabres – UNDER 5.5 GOALS (-120) – The Leafs stick with what’s working for them, and that’s James Reimer in net. Reimer is 5-3 with a 1.96 GAA and a spectacular .940 SV%, which includes his first NHL shutout on Thursday night in a 3-0 win against the Hurricanes. Ryan Miller will go back to back tonight after a 3-2 loss in Pittsburgh last night, where he faced 39 shots against. Toronto plays the UNDER against divisional opponents, as the UNDER is 20-6-1 in their last 27 vs Northeast opponents. The UNDER is also 7-2-2 in the Sabres last 11 vs Northeast opponents. The Sabres are on no days rest, and the UNDER is 7-2 in their last 9 in that situation. Head to head the UNDER is 4-1 in their last 5 games, and 8-2 in their last 10 games in Buffalo. A good place to take the UNDER with confidence tonight.
Detroit Red Wings @ Nashville Predators – PREDATORS TO WIN (-105) – The Red Wings loss 3-0 to Columbus at home last night, and have won just 4 of their last 9 games as they battle through some injuries. Joey MacDonald will get the nod for the Wings, who is 1-2-1 on the year. Nashville is looking to hop out of a mini slump as they have dropped four straight games. Note that 3 of the 4 games were on the road and also 3 of the 4 were just 1 goal losses. It is interesting to see how a team responds to a tough stretch of close losses like that, but with the Red Wings in town I think we can expect a high energized Predators team. Nashville is 10-4 in their last 14 against Western Conference opponents. These two teams have met twice this season in Detroit, and came out with one win a piece. The Preds have an advantage in net here tonight, and I like the value on them being in a pick’em at home. Lay it down on the Preds -105.
