NHL Picks for January 25th
A couple of 1-0 losses and our 4-0 +4 unit day is followed up by a 1-3 -2 unit day. No problem, we are going to end things off before the All Star break with a WINNER.
Please note: this weekend is the NHL All Star break, and we don’t have any NHL action until Tuesday the 31st. You won’t be receiving any NHL plays or emails from me after today. Enjoy the All Star weekend festivities, which can always be fun to watch.
***Tonight’s play is going to be a 2 unit play – double the size of a normal play***
Detroit Red Wings @ Montreal Canadiens – RED WINGS TO WIN (-147)
(Note: I’m risking 2.94 units to win 2 units)
You can find this line at www.5dimes.com and I’m a big fan of it. Detroit has won 7 straight games and 8 of their last 9. On the season the Red Wings are 33-15-1, although just 13-13 on the road. Tonight’s opponent is a struggling Montreal Canadiens team that has lost 5 of their last 7 games. The Canadiens are coming off a Saturday night win in Toronto, but the Canadiens were outplayed for a lot of that game. Montreal is just 18-21-9 on the season, and 8-9-7 at home. In fact the Canadiens have won just 4 of their last 13 home games overall. These two teams don’t meet often, but the Red Wings have taken 4 of the last 5 meetings and 4 of 5 in Montreal as well. Take note that the Red Wings are allowing just 2.24 goals against per game this season, and a lower 1.40 against/game in their last 5. Detroit is 17-5 in their last 22 vs Eastern Conference opponents, while the Canadiens are 0-4 in their last 4 vs Western Conference teams. Dating back to last season the Red Wings are 46-19 in their last 65 vs a team with a losing record. The Canadiens are just 4-14 in their last 18 as an underdog and 1-7 in their last 8 vs a team with a winning % above .600. When the Red Wings show up to play they are no doubt one of the NHL’s best teams. The same cannot be said for the Canadiens, who find themselves struggling quite a bit right now. With a day off since their last win and being the only game on the NHL board tonight + playing in a big market Canadian city I can’t see the Red Wings taking it easy tonight. Look for the Red Wings to keep on rolling in Montreal.

20 run now 6-7 – 1.45 units
Last night was a very dissapointing 1-2 night.
Bruins must have been distracted by their Presidential visit and the Thomas no show controversy. as they played badly on defence dropping a 5-3 decision.
But the real heartbreaker was the under 5 1/2 on leafs Islanders. this was 2-1 after two periods and was 3-2 late but a tieing goal with 14 seconds left in the game flipped it to an overtime over 7 total on a gmae that looked like an under cover.
tonight is a no play. I like Detroit but the juice is a bit much and i do not trust them to win in regulation let alone by 1 1/2. will fo course bet the Kevin play as written.
Enjoy the all-star game. Normally i like betting the overs on all star games but lately that has not worked in the NHL as well as in the NBA and Baseball.

Detroit started the all-star break about 60 minutes early last night.
I will be placing a small bet on te over of the all-star game.
Ovechkin is acting like a spoiled child (Though I do not have the guts to say that to his face lol lol lol)
My first half a year of betting hockey is summarized like this.
“There is as at least as much of an art to betting hockey as there is a skill”

Allstar game!!!
19.5 total? I know a lot of goals are scored in these allstar games but this is too high. Take the under and parlay it w/ team Chara. Alfredson took all the Sens and Ottawa isn’t loaded with allstars. They made the allstar game because of where it’s played this year the same way it was heavy w/ Hurricanes last year. Are they loaded with allstars?
