NHL Picks for March 29th

Another winner last night! I’ve hit 7 of my last 8 plays, with two of those being GOW and GOM plays.  The Blackhawks and Red Wings stayed UNDER the posted total like I had expected, although we were scared with a 3 goal first period.  Chicago took the game 3-2 in overtime.

Lets get at it again tonight with more winners.

NHL Betting Picks for Tuesday, March 29th:

Carolina Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals – HURRICANES TO WIN (+170) – Carolina has won three of their last 4 games as they try to catch the Buffalo Sabres for 8th place in the Eastern Conference.  With a win tonight in Washington the Capitals could get within 3 points of the Sabres, if Buffalo comes out of Toronto with a regulation loss.  Although the Canes are just 4-5-1 in their last 10 games, they haven’t given up their hopes on sneaking into the postseason and we can expect a motivated team tonight.  The Caps are returning home after a 6 game road trip where they went 4-2.  Washington has been getting things done with their new defensive style of play.  The Caps are averaging just 2.20 goals per game in their last 5, but are giving up just 1.80 per game over that span.  Semyon Varlamov will get the start tonight, and he is 10-9-4 on the year with a 2.26 GAA and .923 SV%.  Cam Ward is all but confirmed to start for Carolina, and he is 13-13-5 with a .922 SV% on the road this season.  Not many trends back up the Hurricanes here tonight, as they have lost all 5 meetings between these two teams this season and are awful as road underdogs lately, but we can set aside the trends with their playoff hopes on the line.  Carolina is playing well over their last few games and are desperately looking to win their next three games before they face the Sabres on April 3rd.  You can pretty much call this a must win for the Canes, and I like the value at +170.  Lay it down on Carolina as my big underdog.

Dallas Stars @ Phoenix Coyotes – COYOTES TO WIN (-142) – The Dallas Stars are 4 points back of 8th place in the Western Conference, as they have dropped 5 of their last 6 games coming into tonight.  On the other hand, the Coyotes have won 7 of their last 9 games and sit in 4th place in the Western Conference.  The Stars have allowed on average 3.20 goals against per game over their last 5 games, while the Coyotes are allowing just 1.60 goals against in their last 5.  The Stars have had no luck on the road recently as they are 4-9 in their last 13 road games, and 1-4 int heir last 5 games as a road underdog of +110 to +150.   Dallas is also just 1-5 in their last 6 vs a team with a winning record.  Phoenix is 7-1 in their last 8 games as a home favorite, 9-4 in their last 13 home games overall, and 40-18 in their last 58 games as a favorite.  The Stars are just 2-5 in their last 7 meetings in Phoenix and 4-10 in their last 14 meetings overall.  With the Coyotes still playing for a playoff position in the West I don’t expect them to take this game lightly at all.  The Stars are deflated right now, and I think the Coyotes take advantage here at home.  I’ll happily lay the -142 on Phoenix here.

Good luck tonight guys!  Oh and if you want to get the best NHL odds do your betting at 5dimes.com

  1. Hi Kevin.
    What do you think about:
    – kings versus edmonton- under/ kings
    – Flyers @ Pitt UNDER 5.5 -135
    – Chicagovs Boston Bruins -135
    – Canucks @ Predators UNDER 5 +105
    – Carolina @ Washington UNDER 5.5
Or just I bet only this 2 that you mention.

  2. Hey Mike, I don’t like giving much of my opinion on games I didn’t take…. I didn’t bet them because I didn’t find enough value in them personally to take them.

With that said Flyers/Pittsburgh UNDER looks like a good play.

  3. Thanks.
Should I bet incluind shootout and overtime or just regular time?
And I´m starting now how should I manage my money for example put 30 Euros (for start) and manage that money during the month
taking in account that advices you say ( 5% 3%…).

  4. Yes including shootout and overtime (money line bet).

Yup if you are in it for the “long haul” and want a nice ROI I suggest betting 1% of your bankroll on all the free picks I give out there, and then the exclusive picks are 3-5%.

  5. Ok. Thank you very much.
Normally I make multiple bets (with those 2 picks).
Should I kept it that way or change to simple?
And should bet in NBA? I think it´s a little bit risky what do you think?
    Thanks in advance

  6. I also like your Carolina pick, and I’m a little iffy about Phoenix??? Dallas plays very tight games, they win many times when they are not expected, and they are in more of a need to win to at least have a chance for the playoffs. I also like the Habs, Bruins, Blues.

  7. Hey Kevin,

First, awesome job with the picks!!! I’ll def be following tonight.

I’m looking for a third team, and leaning towards Vancouver (Even) vs. Nashville.. Thoughts?

    Thanks again!!

  8. @Mike – stick to straight bets (don’t parlay or combine bets), but it doesn’t really matter how many straight bets you make if you find value in them. NBA can be profitable if you are betting against the spread with straight bets.

@Jimmy – I just think the Stars haven’t been playing good hockey lately, and the spirits in the locker room probably aren’t that high right now. Yes they could come out with a big game tonight and start a big run for the playoffs, but personally I don’t see that happening.

@Andrew – I’ve said it before – Vancouver is always worth a look as underdogs. With that said I wouldn’t bet against the Preds at home right now (8-0 in their last 8 as home favorites and 5 straight home wins overall).

  9. Pittsburgh has gone to a shootout in their last 4 games and I haven’t taken advantage of that. What do you think the chances of the Pens/ Flyers going all the way to a shootout tonight?

  10. Kevin when you take a game at like -140 do you put 1,4 unit to win 1 or you put 1 unit to win about 0,7 unit ?
