NHL Picks for March 30th

20

Another awesome night ūüôā ¬†2 for 2 with our big underdog pick on Carolina (+170) cashing. ¬†The Hurricanes got things done in a shootout to get past the Capitals 3-2 and stay in the playoff hunt. ¬†Our pick on the Coyotes just barely pulled through with a 2-1 win against the Stars that they probably didn’t deserve (Bryzgalov played great for us).

I have hit 9 of my last 10 plays (doesn’t include the winning free play I gave Friday) and 2 of those 9 plays were Game of the Week and Game of the Month plays. ¬†I look to continue this HOT run today with 5 NHL games on the betting board. ¬†If you aren’t already signed up you want to click here to sign up free for my exclusive picks I don’t post here!

I quickly wanted to note that those looking for Steve’s golf picks again (I emailed out his picks last week and we cashed a nice 38 to 1 $$) you will need to visit http://www.golfbanker.com to get his picks this week. ¬†Enjoy and lets cash another big winner!

Lets get to our NHL pick…

NHL Betting Picks for Wednesday, March 30th:

New York Rangers @ Buffalo Sabres – RANGERS TO WIN (+105) – The Rangers haven’t played since their 1-0 win in Boston on Saturday night, and have won 6 of their last 7 games. ¬†Buffalo is on their second of a back to back after losing to the Maple Leafs last night 4-3. ¬†Miller goes again tonight for the Sabres. ¬†The Rangers continue their great defensive play allowing just 1.20 goals per game over their last 5 games. ¬†Note that the Rangers are 6-1 in their last 7 road games, and 5-1 in their lat 6 games as a road underdog. ¬†The Sabres are just 4-9 in their last 13 vs Atlantic opponents division. ¬†Also note that the Rangers have won 2 of these two teams 3 meetings this season, and the road team is 5-2 in their last 7 meetings. ¬†Although Buffalo is playing for a playoff spot, the Rangers are going to be equally motivated as they sit only 2 points up on the Sabres and 2 points back from the Canadiens with a game in hand. ¬† The Rangers are 4-1-3 on 3 days rest or more, and go against a Buffalo team who were in a somewhat draining one goal battle last night. ¬†I like the Rangers as slight underdogs here tonight.

New York Islanders @ New Jersey Devils – UNDER 5 GOALS (-105) – The New York Islanders have lost 2 straight heading into tonight and 5 of their last 7 games. ¬†Rick DiPietro will get the start in net tonight for the Islanders, who is just 8-11-4 on the year. ¬†The Devils have lost their jump, losing 5 of their last 6 games including 3 straight heading into tonight. ¬†Martin Brodeur will be between the pipes for the Devils tonight and he has only allowed more than 2 goals twice in his last 17 starts. ¬†The Islanders don’t score much on the road averaging just 2.26 goals per game, while the Devils are averaging just 2 goals per game on the season and 0.80 goals per game over their last 5 games. ¬† The UNDER has been a crazy trend for the Devils in the second half of the season, even with most totals set at 5 goals. ¬†The UNDER is 35-13-10 in their last 58 games overall, 18-7-3 in their last 28 home games, and 6-1-2 in their last 9 games as a home favorite. ¬†Despite¬†a shakey DiPietro in net for the Islanders I still have this game going UNDER the posted total. ¬†The Devils just don’t seem to score many goals, and Brodeur playing the way he has should be able to have another great game against this Islanders team that struggles in New Jersey. Take the UNDER.

  1. what’s up Kevin –

Great job as always on the picks. Would you still take NYR at -110 or is this strictly a play on them being slight dogs at +105? I saw +105 this morning on Sportsbook but didn’t think to fire on it. Any thoughts? Also, despite playing B2B and Miller probably being pretty tired, don’t the Sabres have more to play for at this point? Just a thought…

    Keep up the great work.

  2. Dustin, you’re right line is moving on us. At -110 I have a slight lean on them, but would probably opt to sit out on the pick.

  3. Cool – I figured you might say that ūüôā

I am taking a hard look at the Habs at +115, but they’ve never been good to me, probably because I’m a die-hard Bruins fan.

    Good luck.

    Dustin

  4. I like the Rangers pick Kevin.

What are your thoughts on Ducks/Flames over? I’m also liking the Ducks to win in Calgary. I think the Flames comeback against Edmonton covered up their recent poor performances but I think that the Ducks are in much hotter form at the moment and will carry that to Calgary.

I’m also liking the over in the Detroit/Blues game and I think Detroit bounce back with goals after Chicago. Just not sure on the lines for these picks.

  5. hey guys i have subscribed with a site that are doing awsome lately and barly miss a pick, their picks for today are buffalo and anaheim they might be wrong on today’s buffalo game as kevin has been doing amazing lately but I thought why not share them. I am going with ducks tonight

  6. @Whitty1 – I try to explain it here http://www.nhlpredictions.org/nhl-betting-odds

Basically you would be getting 1.05x the amount of money you wagered back in winnings or for every dollar you bet you would win $1.05.

@Jonny – The OVER has been hitting in the Blues/Wings lately – might be worth a second look.

  7. Kevin – just wondering in the Devils game what happens if 5 goals are scored. Is this a push or does it have to be 4 goals and under.

  8. Sorry what I mean is – can there be only 4 goals in the match if you want to win on that pick. Which basically means the score needs to be 2-1 because if the score was tied at 2-2 it would go up to 3-2 in OT or SO.

  9. Jonny – A total of 5 is a push and either side will get their money back. We are looking at 4,3,2 or 1 total goals for a winner.

A 1-0 NYI win would be a winner, while a 4-0 NJ win is a winner too. Lots of ways we can hit the UNDER here. Its tough taking U5, but it I like the odds here and see a 2-1, 3-1 type game.

    Cheers

  10. Kevin, great picks recently, but just want to say I don’t like the U5 in the Devils and Islanders. Both teams have been struggling to score and will want to break out of that. Also, game is of no real importance to either so no reason to play a tight defensive game in order to preserve points. Devils were fighting to get back in the playoff race when their big under trend was happening.

  11. Goodness, Buffalo now at EVEN and NYR (-120) at Sportsbook.com…pretty big swing in the line, might go against the public on this one…

  12. **Miller is out for the Sabres apparently – Enroth will start.

That is why you are seeing the line movement over the last little bit. I like the NYR up to maybe -110 today knowing that. Good Luck guys

  13. Tough “push” tonight… heading to the third with a 2-0 lead I thought Brodeur was going to get the SO.

Buffalo deserved the win tonight, they came out to play.

I have DUCKS moneyline as a system play on the http://www.sportspicksking.com system… hopefully that hits.

    MLB starts tomorrow too!!

  14. Tough picks for the blog Kevin. I had Ducks ML and Ducks/Cal overs too so ended being a good day for me.

Ducks was a good pick. Calgary all over the place recently and the late win against the Oilers was just papering over the cracks. Over went +5.5 with an empty netter at the end. ūüôā
