Split our picks last night. The Senators actually won outright as +210 dogs, while we had them on the puckline – geeze New Jersey always seems to be playing 1 goal games. Nice pick there, unfortunately the Sabres continued their struggles with Pittsburgh and couldn’t take advantage of the injury depleted line up of the Penguins. A split night is better than a losing night, lets hit a nice winning night tonight!
I’ve been feeling really crappy the past two days with a bad head cold, but I’ve been battling through it to do my research for my picks. With 7 gams on the NHL board I have two picks I like and hope for a nice 2-0 night!
Lets get right into tonight’s plays…
NHL Betting Picks for Wednesday, March 9th:
Los Angeles Kings @ Detroit Red Wings – RED WINGS TO WIN (-140) – Neither team has been playing too well lately. The Kings have dropped 3 of their last 4 games, which includes a 7-4 loss to the Wings on February 28th in Los Angeles. Detroit has lost 3 straight since their victory against the Kings (albeit two in extra time). Both teams will start their number one’s with Quick and Howard between the pipes. Detroit has gotten three days of rest since their last game. Mike Babcock must do a great job keeping them focused and working on their weak points for their upcoming game over longer rest periods – The Wings are 7-1-1 this season with three or more days rest, and are 49-17-1 in their last 67 games played on 3 or more days rest. The Kings are on 1 days rest, and are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest, and also 2-6 in their last 8 games vs Central division opponents. Detroit is looking for revenge from their 5-0 home loss to the Kings earlier on in the season, and historical data shows the Kings are just 6-20-2 in their last 28 meetings in the tough Motor City. When the Wings are determined they are a very hard team to beat, and I think they have a big edge tonight with a few extra days rest to regroup. I will lay the -140 on the Wings tonight with confidence.
St Louis Blues @ Columbus Blue Jackets – BLUE JACKETS TO WIN (-130) – These two meet for their second game of a home and home, with the Blues taking the first meeting in St Louis with a 5-4 shootout win. The Blues had dropped 4 straight prior to that, and 7 of their last 9 games. After winning three straight the Blue Jackets went winless in their 5 game road streak, and hope that being back home can give them a spark. Columbus is a nice spot for a revenge game, as the home team is 20-7 in these two teams last 27 meetings. The favorite is also 8-3 in their last 11 meetings. Note that the Blues are 0-5 in their last 5 in the second game of a home and home. Columbus is 6-2 in their last 8 games as a home favorite, and 10-4 in their last 14 home games vs a team with a road winning % of less than .400. The Blue Jackets play well as home favorites, and will coming out hard to snap their losing streak and get revenge on the Blues tonight. The Blue Jackets still have hopes to squeak into the playoffs and I think Columbus can comfortably win this game over the Blues. Take CBJ on the moneyline.
What do you think? Who do you have tonight? Would love some comments below!…. Good Luck
