NHL Picks for May 15th

Last night the Tampa Bay Lightning took Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals by a score of 5-2.  I’m glad I laid off the game all together, as I was leaning towards the under.  Like I had thought, we had no idea what to expect from these two teams and the Lightning changed their game plan from last series almost completely to a more offensive style of play.  It should be interesting to watch that series, and I think we can expect 6 or 7 games.

Tonight is the start of what I think will be another fantastic series in the Western Conference between the San Jose Sharks and the Vancouver Canucks.  Puck drops at 8:00 PM EST and the game is being played in Vancouver.

I have a free pick in tonight’s game…

NHL Betting Picks for Sunday, May 15th:

San Jose Sharks @ Vancouver Canucks – OVER 5.5 GOALS (+122)

These two teams have met 4 times this season, with the Canucks taking 3 of the 4 meetings.  Their first meeting on the season was a 6-1 Vancouver win at home, followed by a 4-3 Vancouver win in San Jose.  The Sharks got their only victory against the Canucks in Vancouver in January with a 2-1 win, and their most recent meeting was a 5-4 Canucks win in San Jose March 10th.  3 of the 4 meetings went OVER the posted 5.5 total with totals of 9, 3, 7, and 7.  6 of their last 8 meetings dating back to last season have gone OVER.  Both San Jose and Vancouver are averaging 3 goals per game on the season.   Note that the OVER is 7-1 in the Sharks last 8 games as an underdog, and 12-3-2 in their last 17 road games overall.  The OVER is 11-4-2 in their last 17 games following a win as well.  A lot of the trends for Vancouver point to the UNDER, but that hasn’t been the case between these two teams.  I don’t see either team playing a very tight style of play, and think we can expect a couple goals from both sides before we get into the third period.  I’m on the OVER at a nice +122 price in GAME 1 – lets cash a winner with our first Conference Final play.
